Having grown up on a family farm, worked for the NFU and on Rural policy and long campaigned for a much better recognition from Government of the importance of the Rural Economy, it has been a great privilege over the last five years to champion the great work of our agricultural industry in Norfolk.

That’s why I was delighted to see a packed room recently at Broom Hall as part of Farming Week recently, where I spoke about the future of farming in Wayland and across the country.

Having served as the Chairman of the All Party Group on Agricultural Science and Technology in Parliament, I was honoured to be able to persuade the Government to launch a national Industrial Strategy for Agricultural Innovation – the first time for 40 years that Agriculture has been recognised as a major strategic ECONOMIC force in the UK.

The meeting at Broom Hall emphasised the important role farming plays in our local economy and the pioneering work being done here in Norfolk and the Eastern region.
