Offshore Wind Infrastructure

For all of those of us that love and appreciate our beautiful rural and coastal landscapes here in the East, it is clear that the current chaotic “free for all” approach to delivering offshore wind infrastructure is unsustainable in the long term.

Protecting Our Rural Landscape and Heritage

Building enough houses to make sure everyone in our area has the chance for a roof of their own, while also making sure we protect our rural landscape and heritage, is often a difficult balance.

That’s why I set up my Norfolk Way Project to promote a new model of rural development, protecting our heritage AND driving a ‘Rural Renaissance’ in our towns and villages with improved transport links and new businesses and opportunities.

Tackling Disconnection

My crusade for better connectivity and opportunity for the people and places left behind.

Upgrading the Norwich-Cambridge Railway Line

I have launched a campaign for ‘The Innovation Express’ between Norwich and Cambridge. Despite being only 50 miles apart, travelling between the two places is difficult and takes too long.

Making our roads fit for the 21st century

When I was first elected in 2010, Norfolk was the only UK county not connected to the motorway and dual carriageway network. Not only had this held back businesses and families for too long, it had also proved dangerous for thousands of commuters travelling down unsafe single-carriage roads.

Norfolk’s Innovation Economy

I believe we stand on the cusp of something special in our area, a once-in-a-generation chance to drive a new cycle of growth, investment and jobs.

Flooding and the Mid Norfolk Flood Partnership

Flooding has long been a concern for many in our part of Norfolk – and the heavy rainfall of December 23rd-24th 2020, and again in the early part of 2021, resulted in a record number of call outs for Anglian Water, the Environment Agency and Norfolk County Council alike, exacerbating these long held frustrations and fears.

Food, Farming and the Environment

Having grown up on my stepdad’s farm and previously worked as Parliamentary Officer for the NFU, I have always had a strong connection with our agricultural industries and the environment.

Backing local businesses

Having worked for fifteen years as an entrepreneur before coming to Parliament, I passionately believe in the potential of Norfolk’s rural economy to play a significant role in helping to rebalance the national economy and create prosperity and opportunities across our area.

Arthur Freeman
Speaking Up for Mental Health Services

Mental health provision has long been an issue very close to my heart. I have seen first-hand how mental health issues affect friends and family members and can destroy lives.

George Freeman MP supporting Brain Tumour Research
Brain Tumour Research and Awareness

Brain tumours kill more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer. They are indiscriminate and can affect anyone at any age – with 16,000 people diagnosed every year.

SEND support in our local schools

How we take care of, and educate, some of our most vulnerable people is a measure of us as a society. EVERYONE has the right to a good education.

The Norfolk Way
The Norfolk Way

The Norfolk Way was founded in 2007 by George Freeman. He saw the need for an independent organisation to act as a catalyst for positive, sustainable and entrepreneurial change in rural Norfolk.

A47 Rat-Running Campaign and Taskforce

I have long campaigned for much needed improvements to Norfolk (and the East)’s infrastructure.

Integrating Health and Social Care

For too long our area has suffered from a lack of properly joined up planning by different Councils and non-Governmental organisations; and nowhere more than in health and care.
