With internet shopping on the rise, Royal Mail is set to be busier than ever this Christmas. Behind the scenes a lot of hard work goes on to ensure that our cards and gifts get delivered on time and in good order.

I think it is vital that we take the opportunity during this busy Christmas period to let Post Office workers know that their hard work is not forgotten.

That is why I went to visit my constituency delivery office at 8.30am in the morning to thank them personally before they headed out on their rounds.

For all the challenges facing the Royal Mail, it is still a service to be proud of – especially at Christmas.
