Success for Chapel Road School Funding Campaign!

I’m delighted to confirm that – after several years working with Chapel Road School to get the funding for up to date facilities - I heard last week from the Secretary of State that we have ben successful. Chapel Road School is a special school: an inspiring beacon of hope to us all, but most especially to the parents and carers of our most vulnerable children.

Since being selected as a Parliamentary Candidate over 6years ago I have been a frequent visitor and strong supporter of the school, and end each year with their Advent Carol Service and end of term prize giving, which is a moving and uplifting reminder of how lucky we all are to live in a country able to care so well for the most vulnerable.

The school has outgrown its current site in Attleborough, and is long overdue a capital sum for a relocation to new premises.
This funding announcement is the culmination of a long campaign by the inspirational team behind Chapel Road School who it is has been my privilege to help.

When I brought Michael Gove to Chapel Road to see for himself in 2011 the urgent need for new facilities, and earlier this year took the delegation of pupils and staff to No. 10 and presented their handwritten petition to the Prime Minister, I was confident that our case would be heard.

In my most recent meeting with the Secretary of State he acknowledged the strength of the case that we have made and the inspiring work done by the team at Chapel Road. The Prime Minister has also written to me to pass on his best wishes to the school and all who support it.
I am so pleased that the school’s patience has paid off, and the great work done by the inspiring head, Karin Heap, and all the staff and Governors and parents has been recognised.
