The Norfolk Farming Conference is an annual showcase of Norfolk’s leadership in modern agriculture, and I was delighted to be invited to give the Opening address on 21st Century farming.

New technologies are transforming modern farming, with SatNav guided equipment, remote field sensors and informatics allowing precision farming and a new Green Revolution of Low Input High Output farming.

This is creating huge new opportunities for Norfolk’s farmers, scientists at the NRP, agronomists at Morley and engineers at the Hethel Engineering Centre, and many others, who are doing so much to drive this change.

If we invest in the right skills we could see our area becoming for agricultural technology what Cambridge has become for bio-medicine.
