Necton A47 Junction

As a regular user of the A47 throughout my time as the local MP for Mid Norfolk, I have long been aware of widespread concerns about safety at the A47 Necton/Dunham junction.

That’s why, as part of my ongoing campaign with local district, county and parish councillors to hold National Highways to account and bring about vital safety improvements, I have formally written to their Regional Director to request another site visit and meeting – to review the finalised detailed designs for the improvements they intend to undertake this summer, and explore what more can be done to get a proposed speed limit reduction from 50mph to 40mph over the line (which, again, National Highways hope will be in place later this summer).

I have also asked National Highways if we can use such a site visit and meeting to begin engagement with local stakeholders as NH start to think about the wider safety improvements they have previously stated they intend to pursue for the stretch of the A47 that this dangerous junction is on.

Rest assured, I remain committed to working with the local community to drive forward safety improvements at this key strategic location – and look forward to sharing further progress updates soon.
