MPs ‘Say Yes!’ to better broadband in Norfolk

Yesterday Norfolk MPs George Freeman, Simon Wright, Elizabeth Truss and Norman Lamb joined Norfolk County Councillor, Anne Steward to promote the EDP and Norfolk County Council’s registration appeal ‘Say Yes!’.

Gathering together on a frosty morning in Westminster the MPs handed out flyers and modelled new promotional bags and sweatshirts designed to advertise the ‘Say Yes!’ campaign.

Appealing to Norfolk residents and businesses to register their interest to ensure competitive bids from telecoms providers, Mid Norfolk MP, George Freeman said:

“Getting better broadband for Norfolk is crucial for quality of life, unlocking access to on-line shopping, banking and public services, and making it easier to stay in touch with family and friends. It will also be pivotal in allowing people to set up and operate businesses from rural areas and work from home.

We were successful in obtaining financial support from the government‘s Broadband Delivery UK fund back in 2011 due to everyone’s support ‘backing the bid’. Now we need your support again. You can do so by phone, online, or even by scanning your smartphone, and by registering you really can help Norfolk get better broadband. We’re at around 7,600 people and businesses registered now. I’d like to see that number go up to 35,000!”
