Recent reports suggest that there are 110,000 unpaid carers in Norfolk. That means one in seven of the population care for an elderly, sick or disabled friend, partner or relative. Being a carer is an emotionally, physically, and often financially draining task. Thankfully, the Norfolk Millennium Trust for Carers does a fantastic job of providing practical support, from supplying basic but essential equipment, like washing machines and wheelchairs, to making it possible for carers to take much needed breaks. This year they have been able to support 191 carers and one carers group, but it is clear that many more people need their help. That is why I will be working to raise awareness of this important issue and urge members of my constituency to lend their support in any way they can.

The EDP We Care Appeal will be holding its annual Festival of Carols on December 5th to help raise money for the Trust. Tickets are now on sale, and you can find out more here.
