Fighting for Gressenhall Post Office

Rural post offices are more than just places to buy stamps.  The Post Office is a crucial facility in a rural community and many, especially the elderly, immobile and vulnerable, depend on the service that it provides. Those in Norfolk who care about local communities care about the Post Office and this was evidenced by the huge turnout of over 200 people when I held a meeting with concerned residents in Gressenhall when the Post Office first suspended the service there.

This was over 6 months ago and whilst I have been assured that the closure remains temporary and despite numerous discussions between myself and the Post Office there has been little progress to report.

As local residents will be aware, recently a service has been run in Gressenhall for 2 hours per week by the Post Master from Mattishall. Whilst this is a welcome temporary reprieve, it is clear that the limited service is not sufficient to meet the demands of the village and I am continuing to put pressure on the Post Office to determine what efforts they are putting into a longer term solution.

Residents can be assured that I will continue to fight for this vital local service to be reinstated and will be reporting back on all progress.
