Ely North Junction

Unlocking the true economic potential of Norfolk (and the East) and ensuring that commuters have the rail services they need to travel and get to work, have been two of my core missions since becoming an MP back in 2010.

Investment into improvements at Ely North Rail Junction is key if this vision is to be achieved, and that’s why I have actively worked with colleagues throughout my time as a local MP to help build the case for this investment, and why I have now expressed my support for a recent letter sent by the East of England All Party Parliamentary Group to the new Prime Minister, Chancellor and Secretary of State for Transport, which once again reiterates the importance of this vitally important, strategic location (along with the similarly important Haughley Junction).

Please see the letter below.

The Prime Minister signalled her ongoing support for improvements at Ely North Junction last month, and also criticised the delays that have prevented progress before now.

If we are to unleash the East (and particularly Norfolk)’s full economic potential, as well as take strides towards to Net Zero and driving forward global Britain while also increasing the region’s net contribution to UK plc (something that will have benefits for us all), Ely North Junction must be prioritised.

Rest assured, I am determined to do all I can, with colleagues and stakeholders, to ensure this crucial project is funded and gets the go ahead.
