Ely North Junction

Improving the Ely North Junction will allow more trains to run much more frequently between Norwich and Cambridge, as well as King’s Lynn and London – bringing benefits to businesses and commuters across Norfolk.

That’s why I have been working hard with other Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire MPs to secure the necessary funding for these improvements and to ensure that these essentials works begin as soon as possible.

Yesterday, I and my fellow MPs met with Chris Grayling, the Transport Secretary, to make the case of the urgency to begin improvements to the Ely North Junction. I was delighted to hear his commitment to making this project a priority for the Department for Transport and it was confirmed that the works would take place in the next round of major rail projects, which runs from 2019.

Rest assured, I shall continue to monitor progress closely and I remain committed to working with my fellow MPs to get these much needed improvements over the line.
