Attleborough Post Office – High Street

Our local post office branches play a crucial role in so many of our local communities, providing local residents and businesses with quick and easy access to vital services, including banking.

That’s why I share local concerns following the news that the post office branch on Attleborough High Street is set to close at the end of this month – with the current postmaster having recently tendered his resignation.

Having seen the last banking branch in the town close when Lloyds left a couple of years ago, I appreciate how big an impact the loss of the High Street post office branch could have on many – particularly the elderly and vulnerable, as well as those living on the eastern side of the town. Furthermore, the High Street branch brings large numbers of people into the Town Centre, where they often pop into other shops while they are there – in turn further boosting the local economy.

I have therefore written to Post Office Ltd to highlight the concerns that I, and many others, have – and to ask for an urgent update on what measures they are taking to ensure there is a long term post office branch on or in close proximity to the High Street. I am also liaising with local district and county councillors.

With significant additional growth coming to Attleborough in the coming years, I do not believe it is feasible for the High Street to permanently lose its post office branch. Rest assured, I will continue to speak up for the town on this important issue.
