Action for Stammering Children

Children that have a stammer often suffer massive anxiety and humiliation – often in agonised silence. Like many boys, I started stammering aged five – with my teenage years particularly difficult.

That’s why it was a joy to host Action for Stammering Children’s event in the House last week – to thank them for their great work helping so many stammering children to find their voice.

There is no more noble a cause in our lives than to give those who are in the ‘silent’ agony of enforced silence a chance to speak. It’s an amazing and wonderful thing.

Thanks to all the great staff and volunteers who work so hard

I look forward to working with parliamentarians from all parties, as well as vocal campaigners like Ed Balls and Michael Palin, so that we can help even more children in the future.
