A47 Dualling – Campaign Update

Full dualling of the A47 (from Lowestoft in the East all the way through to the A1 in Cambridgeshire in the West) is vital if we are to ensure the long term safety of motorists and help unlock Norfolk and the East’s full economic potential.

That’s why, following the joint-MP letter I co-signed to the Roads Minister Guy Opperman last month (see here and below), I welcomed the opportunity to bring Cllr Graham Plant (Norfolk County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Infrastructure and Transport) and David Cummings (NCC Strategic Transport Manager) to Westminster today to meet with him and make the case in person.

I am going further however and have again invited the Roads Minister to Norfolk to see the route himself and meet with local leaders. I am also working with Norfolk County Council and the A47 Alliance team as we look to bring a delegation of stakeholders to Westminster to raise the profile of the A47 Alliance campaign further once more.

Rest assured, I will keep on this.

To stay up to date with all my work on this issue, including my calls for Dr Boswell and his fellow eco-campaigners to stop blocking the already committed North Tuddenham-Easton dualling and Thickthorn Roundabout improvement works, please visit my ‘Making Our Roads Fit for the 21st Century’ campaign page here.
