Digital Schoolhouse Project

Inspiring the software programmers of tomorrow.

Great to see excellent Dereham Neatherd High School and Toftwood Junior School leading the Digital Schoolhouse project in Norfolk: helping the next generation learn the logic of accurate language and programming for 21stC economy and society.

I was pleased to meet with representatives of the About Dereham Partnership this past Friday to learn more about their work to champion good causes in Dereham, foster more tourism opportunities and help create a bigger vision for the town.

The About Dereham Partnership consists currently of dedicated volunteers who put energy and commitment into the overall aim of improving the image of Dereham. Their adopted mission is:

“To promote and contribute to Dereham as an economically successful and culturally vibrant centre: a good place to live and a great place to visit.”

I look forward to working with the Partnership in the coming months and years ahead.

What is the key to tackling poverty, homelessness and anxiety? A good job.

Through Conservatives welfare-to-work reforms Universal Credit via DWP we have transformed Job Centres to help long-term unemployed job seekers back into work.

I was delighted to visit their main Norwich Work and Health Hub this past Friday to hear first-hand about the great work they are doing across Norfolk to support people into work through the Work and Health Programme – even getting to meet Mid Norfolk constituents currently enrolled on it.

It was a privilege to meet with the staff and volunteers and I look forward to continuing to support their work in the coming months and years.

CPRE Norfolk Rural Housing Conference

I was delighted to begin another busy constituency day in Mid Norfolk this past Friday by opening the CPRE Norfolk Rural Housing Conference at Dereham Memorial Hall.

With a proper vision, we can deliver the right housing, in the right way, in our part of Norfolk - supporting local communities and keeping them sustainable, while not destroying their character and heritage.
