A47

I have long been an ardent supporter of the campaign to fully dual the A47, and that’s why I read, with great interest, the ‘Opinion’ piece by Peter Brown in today’s EDP (link here).

Peter, the Managing Director of logistics and haulage firm Jack Richards, discusses why it is so important for Norfolk business to see the A47 given the proper attention it deserves – and calls on it to be treated as a priority NOW.

He is totally right.

As I have regularly posted, it is imperative that the full A47 is dualled as soon as possible. Without this, we shall continue to see a drain of employers and skilled jobs from the county – and the region will not be able to unlock its true economic potential. Furthermore, we’ll continue to see unnecessary and avoidable deaths and serious accidents unless we invest in improve the most dangerous sections of this vital trunk route – several of which run through Mid Norfolk.

I am determined to do all I can to ensure that the £300million worth of committed improvements (including the North Tuddenham to Easton stretch) are not allowed to slip any further. Work needs to start now. No more delays.

Rest assured, I will continue to actively pursue this issue in Westminster to put pressure on Ministers and their officials to treat the A47 route with the attention it deserves.
