Watton Post Office - Update

The news, in May, that the Watton branch of the Post Office would be temporarily closing was deeply concerning. A town of Watton’s size, with further growth to come, absolutely needs a permanent branch that can offer the services that so many rely on – especially the vulnerable and the elderly.

Further to my previous updates on this issue (which can be found here and here), I have been informed by Post Office Ltd that they have now received a formal application for the vacant postmasters role, and a business case has also been submitted. Post Office Ltd are now assessing whether the business case and application are both suitable, and are hopeful that this will pave the way for a branch will be reopened as soon as possible.

In the meantime, as of today, Post Office Ltd have arranged for the Barnham Broom postmaster to operate a Mobile Post Office Counter Service between 1.30pm and 3.30pm every Thursday in the Watton Library Car Park – until such time that the new permanent branch can be reopened.

Rest assured, I continue to follow developments on this matter closely, and I will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
