We are so lucky to have the Mid Norfolk Railway here in our part of Nelson’s County – and I am delighted to hear that they have now won a four year deal with Abellio Greater Anglia to store their new fleet of Stadler Flirt trains, which will arrive later this year.

This deal, worth over £3 million, will provide funds for the Mid Norfolk Railway to improve their own infrastructure and storage facilities, as well as to build the new sidings to store the new trains in. A section of the Wymondham to Dereham line will also be double tracked.

This is excellent news for the Mid Norfolk Railway and shows how heritage lines like it can play key roles in supporting commercial services, while earning money that can then be reinvested into their own infrastructure and services. I look forward to watching the Mid Norfolk Railway continue to go from strength to strength.
