South Norfolk Council is one of the country’s most innovative local authorities, and I welcome their announcement that they will spend £50,000 on a number of new electric car charging points around the district.

Their decision to use enlightened procurement to invest in modern infrastructure for our market towns, and to support the green economy, is to be applauded – and is vital if we are to help ensure our rural economy thrives in the 21st century.

The number of electric cars on our roads is rising, and will inevitably rise further still, and so this announcement by South Norfolk Council marks a great step forward in this area.
