East of England Ambulance Trust

19th February 2018

I was deeply shocked to hear the allegations that have been made against the East of England Ambulance Service Trust – concerning patient deaths due to delays.

It is absolutely vital that public trust is maintained in the services that we all rely on and cherish, and I welcomed therefore that the Department of Health acted quickly to convene a risk summit with executives from NHS England, NHS Improvement and the CQC, back in January, to review the accusations in depth.

Tomorrow, I will be attending a meeting with my fellow MPs in the East to hear from the Trust about their “turnaround plans” aimed at addressing the issues we have seen, and I look forward to working with my parliamentary colleagues, as well as NHS staff, to help drive up standards in this area.
