Meeting with Chief Crown Prosecutor

Throughout my time as the MP for Mid Norfolk, I have always placed great importance on regular contact with our region’s key figures across a number of vitally important fields and sectors.

That’s why I was delighted to speak with the Chief Crown Prosecutor for the East of England, Frank Ferguson, this past Friday – discussing in depth the first crime scorecards published for the region back in March.

Set to be published quarterly, the scorecard metrics concern the volume and timeliness of cases going through the court system, as well as key criteria like the quality of service and victim engagement. They will be useful tools that can provide greater transparency to the public and demonstrate the progress being made to improve performance.

I also took the opportunity to again highlight the work I am doing with local domestic abuse charities and support groups, along with the Lord-Lieutenant, Police and Crime Commissioner and High Sheriff, to try and improve the support and experiences of domestic abuse victims and their families as their cases progress through the courts, and more importantly bring an end to this awful scourge in our society.

Rest assured, I intend to continue this dialogue in the months and years ahead. To stay up to date, please do continue to check in on my website. More information on my work to tackle domestic abuse can be found here.
