Culture Recovery Fund

Culture creates jobs, supports livelihoods, and brings joy to everyone. The UK leads the world in the creative industries and we can all feel pride in that.

That’s why I’m delighted that the Orion Cinema in Dereham has been awarded £52,774 in Round 3 funding of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund, which brings the total amount awarded to them across all rounds from the Fund to £78,034.

The Culture Recovery Fund was established to help cultural organisations and heritage sites weather the pandemic, at a time when they were forced to close their doors to visitors and audiences.

Cinema plays an important social role in our local communities, bringing people together and providing a focal point and space where people can enjoy culture and engage with others. I hope this funding supports the Orion as it continues to safely reopen its doors.

The government has supported culture with an unprecedented amount of funding for the cultural sector, provided on top of the furlough scheme, bounce-back loans and emergency grants. By being ‘Here For Culture’, we aren’t just supporting the people in the industry, we’re also supporting communities across the country.
