Rural youth employment is a particular problem; youngsters leaving school or college in rural areas don’t have the same chance as those in the city. There are fewer jobs on offer, but many opportunities for young people to work within the smaller micro-businesses within Norfolk that are often ‘unseen’.

That is why I am supporting local businesses in Wayland and rural school leavers to connect through an apprenticeship programme, businesses can seek out talented apprentices while youngsters can experience ‘real time’ working life.
