Further to my posts on 22nd August and 25th September (see here and here), I am delighted to report that the Housing Minister, Kit Malthouse MP, has now responded to my recent letter – in which I sought assurances that Lanpro would NOT be allowed to circumvent the local community or council.
The Minister has reaffirmed his commitment to the approach set out in the Garden Communities Prospectus and confirmed that no amendment will be made – despite Lanpro’s attempts to lobby for such changes. He has also reiterated that proposals submitted by private sector partners, such as Lanpro, MUST be expressly supported by the local authority.
I am pleased that the Minister has given me these assurances in writing, showing that big developers cannot simply look to push communities around. Instead, they must take communities seriously, and work with them.
