This is a very encouraging step. Inland flooding has become an increasing serious and urgent issue over the last few years here in Norfolk and across many counties and has lacked properly-coordinated local and national attention.
That’s why I set up the Mid Norfolk Flood Partnership in 2020, the Norfolk Flood Summit and have drafted the Flood Prevention (Responsibilities and Liabilities) Bill I’m introducing in Parliament.
I’ll be writing to the Floods Minister to welcome this initiative and set out the key reforms we know are needed to stop the buck-passing between quangos and get some proper flood prevention measures implemented to stop more and more people having their homes and life’s turned upside down.
I’m delighted that the Minister has listened to those of us highlighting this urgent issue.
