SEND – Update

How we take care of, and educate, some of our most vulnerable people is a measure of us as a society. EVERYONE has the right to a good education.

That’s why, as part of my ongoing efforts to speak up for and support our local schools (both mainstream and specialised) as they look to provide the very best SEND care possible, I am delighted to be in communication with the Department for Education’s new Regional Schools Commissioner for the East of England, Jonathan Duff.

Jonathan recently reached out to all MPs in the East of England in an effort to build close relationships that allow us all to work even more proactively for the benefit of students and staff in our region. I welcome that effort on his behalf and have already highlighted with him the increasing concerns around the ability of local schools to sufficiently cater for SEND children.

I look forward to continuing my dialogue with Jonathan in the weeks and months ahead as part of my wider efforts to improve the support and resources our local education system has to ensure this vulnerable group get the education they deserve.
