Necton - Vattenfall Consultation

Back in September, I met with representatives of Necton Parish Council, Vattenfall and Highways England to discuss significant issues pertaining to the future of Necton – including, most notably, local concerns about Vattenfall’s proposals to locate the connection point for two new wind farms (Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas) in the village over the next few years.

As those who have already corresponded with me will know, this has been a matter I have followed closely for many months and, having liaised with Vattenfall on behalf of a number of constituents, I have also committed to holding a second meeting in Necton in the New Year to further discuss the issue. Representatives from the Parish Council, Vattenfall and the local community will be present.

Due to the scale of the two projects, they are both classed as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and will have to go through a strict planning process in order to obtain the Development Consent Orders required to allow them to go ahead. Vattenfall are currently in the pre-application stage of their application for Norfolk Vanguard.

Following a period of non-statutory (informal) consultation to help inform the development of the proposals that they will ultimately submit, Vattenfall are now undertaking a period of formal statutory consultation that will last from November 7th until December 11th 2017. A Public Information Day will also take place in Necton Rural Community Centre on Friday 10th November between 1pm and 7pm to allow local residents to ask questions.

As is always the case when such applications are being made, it is absolutely vital that the local community has the chance to make their voice heard and I would encourage everyone concerned to take the time to submit their views at this next stage of the pre-application process. This can be done by following the link here

Please do make sure that you take the time to “HAVE YOUR SAY!”
