Mental Health in Agriculture

20th July 2020

Every week, someone involved in our farming industries dies by suicide. Each one is one too many – and there are so many more suffering with anxiety and depression in silence.

That’s why I welcomed the opportunity to participate in the ‘Exploring Mental Health in Agriculture’ webinar (organised by Archant and Lloyds Banking Group) back in May to help shed more light on this issue and discuss what more can be done to support those working in one of the vital sectors in our Norfolk and national economies.

The campaign is now going from strength to strength – and I am delighted to see the latest EDP article on its great work (which can be viewed here)

My next action is to write to all rural MPs in the UK and send them copies of the YANA (You Are Not Alone) organisation’s National Directory of Rural Support Groups and Suicide Prevention Campaign Card so that they can educate themselves further and circulate the materials in their own constituencies.

Together, we can make a real difference.
