Local Planning

24th November 2017

Where new development is taking place, it must be sustainable in the long term – being accompanied by the appropriate infrastructure and not imposing too much pressure on local services.

I recently met with local councillors and residents at the site of the proposed Orbit Homes development for 284 homes on Greenfields Road in Dereham to discuss a number of concerns that they have. Most notably, they fear that the proposed application will not provide the amount of Outdoor Playing Space that a development of its size requires.

Dereham is already seriously lacking in the amount of Outdoor Playing Space it should have and so, straight after my site visit, I met with representatives of Orbit Homes to raise the concerns that had been brought to my attention.

I shall be meeting again in the near future with local councillors, residents and Orbit Homes to discuss this proposed application in even greater depth and I remain firmly committed to standing up for my constituents to ensure that only appropriate development is permitted in our area.
