East of England Ambulance Trust

16th July 2018

As I have been reporting over recent weeks and months, I, and my fellow Norfolk MPs, were deeply shocked to hear the allegations that were made against the East of England Ambulance Service Trust earlier this year – concerning patient deaths due to delays.

That’s why, following a number of unsatisfactory meetings with the Ambulance Trust and other NHS bodies, Richard Bacon, Norman Lamb and I came together, on Friday, to publicly call for a change of leadership at the Trust.

It is absolutely vital that public trust is maintained in the services that we all rely on and cherish and, while there are many staff at the Trust working tirelessly for the benefit of us all, the lack of real leadership and the continuing failures of those in management cannot go on. They are paid a lot of money to manage the service, and they are letting patients and frontline staff down.

This morning, Norman Lamb and I both spoke on Nick Conrad’s BBC Radio Norfolk Show to discuss our joint call for a change of leadership – and if you would be interested in listening to the discussion, you can do so by clicking here and listening from 2:06:55.

Rest assured, we shall all continue to work together to ensure that our constituents receive the level of service they deserve.
