CPRE Norfolk Rural Housing Conference

9th July 2019

For too long, aggressive out of town developers have sought to bank land permissions so as to force through often inappropriate and unsustainable large-scale developments in our towns and villages elsewhere.

Rural communities across our county have also been particularly hard-hit by a lack of affordable housing too – a situation which has seen the average in rural areas rise as young people are priced out, and services like schools, post offices, pubs and shops forced to close.

As a result, public trust in our planning system is at an all-time low.

That’s why one of my central missions as an MP has been the championing of a new model of planning for our country, and county – and why I am therefore delighted to be speaking at CPRE Norfolk’s Rural Housing Conference in Dereham on Friday 6th September.
