Championing UK Life Sciences

Following the launch of the UK Life Science Industrial Strategy in 2011, the Life Science sector has been going from strength to strength.
That’s why it was a great privilege last week to open the London Stock Exchange and do an interview with the US TV station CNBC on the health of the Life Sciences sector in the UK, setting out our vision for 21stC healthcare and investment around the country.
Having worked with UCL during my fifteen year career before coming to Parliament, it was wonderful to be back as Minister for Life Sciences for my second event of the day to launch the Magnus Life Science collaboration with UCL.
Following the two events yesterday morning, I delivered the keynote speech at the Astellas Innovation Debate streamed live around the world and chaired by Jonathan Dimbleby, speaking on i-Genes: What the DNA and Data revolutions mean for our health.
I finished the day delivering the keynote to the BIA Gala Dinner at the Natural History Museum, talking about how Government is working with industry to make sure Britain is the best place on earth to develop 21stC healthcare innovations.
