A47 Alliance

11th September 2018

While I am very proud that we have managed to secure the £300 million required for the first phase of A47 dualling, it is imperative that we now get the rest dualled in order to improve safety and ensure that Norfolk has the 21st century transport system it deserves. Only then can we unlock the true economic potential of our great county.

The news that, between 2013 and 2018, over a month was lost to road closures caused by accidents on the A47 is further evidence as to why this crucial artery stretching from Lowestoft in the East all the way to the A1 in the West needs dualling. We must reduce the risk to those using the road, reduce the impact such closures have on our economy and give local commuters and businesses the infrastructure they need to fuel growth in our area.

Please be assured that I remain firmly committed to working with the A47 Alliance, EDP, local communities and my fellow MPs to drive forward this cross-county campaign so that we can secure the funds required to deliver these much needed improvements.
