Rail – Update

Unlocking the true economic potential of Norfolk (and the East), and ensuring that commuters have the rail services they need to travel and get to work, have been two of my key missions since becoming an MP back in 2010.

That’s why I am delighted to hear that the first of Greater Anglia’s new fleet of “FLIRT” trains has recently been tested in the Czech Republic – ready for its rollout in the middle of 2019.

These new trains can use electricity where available from overhead cables, and then use a diesel power-car in the middle of the train on other routes – making them incredibly versatile.

Modern trains like this will improve services for commuters, and are a positive step towards realising my ambition of getting our region the rail infrastructure that can drive forward economic growth and prosperity for us all.

Rest assured, I shall continue to work hard locally and in Westminster on this very important issue.
