Planning - Rocklands

When new development is to be permitted in our rural towns and villages, it absolutely must be sustainable, and accompanied by the necessary infrastructure required to support both it, and the pre-existing community.

That’s why I have actively supported local communities in Mid Norfolk when it is clear that a proposed development is inappropriate and unsustainable – and why, nationally, I led a parliamentary debate on Town and Village Plans to call for the strengthening of Neighbourhood Planning and for reform of the National Planning Policy Framework (and specifically the Five Year Housing Land Supply Rule).

Having seen the site in question during a recent visit to Rocklands, and heard first-hand from residents about the serious flooding issues, I share the views of the Parish Council and local district councillors that the proposed development for the erection of seven single storey dwellings and garages/carports on Mill Lane/Green Lane would be inappropriate and unsustainable. I have, therefore, written to Breckland Council’s Director of Planning to ensure our concerns are brought to the attention of the Planning Committee ahead of Monday’s hearing.
