A47 Alliance - Update

While I am very proud that we have managed to secure the £300 million required for the first phase of A47 dualling, it is imperative that we now get the rest dualled in order to improve safety and ensure that Norfolk has the 21st century transport system it deserves. Only then can we unlock the true economic potential of our great county.

That’s why, this past Friday, I attended a meeting at County Hall as part of the ongoing A47 Alliance ‘Just Dual It!’ campaign being championed by Norfolk County Council, the EDP and my fellow MPs and I – as well as businesses across Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire and James Palmer, the Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

It was a very productive meeting with updates being provided by myself, James Palmer and Cllr Martin Wilby (Chairman of the A47 Alliance and Norfolk County Council’s Chairman of the Environment, Development and Transport Committee). The A47 Alliance as a whole also discussed ways we can work together to drive the campaign forward even further.

I look forward to continuing to work with the Alliance on this important issue.
