Access to Wymondham Railway Station

It is vital that Norfolk has the modern rail network required to ensure it truly fulfils its economic potential in the 21st century, and that commuters have the reliable and efficient services they need.

That’s why I have been working with relevant parties to ensure that a ramp is installed as soon as possible for Platform 2 of Wymondham Railway Station. In 2018, it is simply unacceptable for ANY railway station to have a platform inaccessible to those who are disabled, or with a pram or a bike.

This past Friday, I brought together representatives of Network Rail, Abellio Greater Anglia and South Norfolk Council officials – as well as the local District and County Councillors, Mayor of Wymondham Town Council and a nearby landowner – to explore possible solutions, and while the situation is complex, I was pleased to find universal agreement that something needs to be done to address this problem.

Work is now taking place between the parties that were present to establish what exactly needs to be done to facilitate the urgently needed access improvements, and I shall be meeting with them all again in a few weeks’ time to hear the progress that has been made and help push this campaign over the line.
