Access to Wymondham Railway Station

It is vital that Norfolk has the modern rail network required to ensure it truly fulfils its economic potential in the 21st century, and that commuters have the reliable and efficient services they need.

That’s why I am committed to ensuring that EVERYONE can access our region’s railway stations, and why I am re-energising the campaign to get proper access secured to Wymondham Station. For too long those who are disabled, or with bicycles or prams, have struggled to access Platform 2 – with many having to travel to Norwich or Attleborough to use the disabled facilities there so that they can switch sides and continue with their journeys. This is clearly unacceptable in 2018.

Having previously held a site visit with the relevant parties, and been disappointed with the progress that has since been made, I am leading a roundtable later this week with representatives of Network Rail, Abellio Greater Anglia and South Norfolk Council officials – as well as the local District and County Councillors, Mayor of Wymondham Town Council and a nearby landowner.

I shall be putting firm pressure on the parties involved to work together and find a solution to this very important issue as quickly as possible.

I look forward to providing an update for my constituents in the near future.
