Farming is such an important part of Norfolk life and, coming from a farming background, a constituency farm visit is always a welcome one.
That’s why I was delighted to be asked to Oliver and Laura’s dairy farm at Tittleshall this past Friday to see first-hand the hard work this young couple have put into making a success of their unit.
The farmer’s day can be a long one starting at 4.30 am and working until 10 pm at night, depending on the time of year. The family employ 5 people over 2 units and raise their own beef cattle with the milk going to Arla.
I feel very strongly we should be supporting our local family farms by creating a framework we can value, so that family and small-scale farms can survive and contribute to the future of British farming.
