Dereham Platinum Jubilee Awards

The Queen’s passing stopped the entire country in its tracks: out of profound respect for our longest reigning monarch, who as Head of State guided our nation through an extraordinary seventy year reign, celebrated in the Jubilee so sincerely earlier this year.

In the days since, so many of us have paid tribute to Her Late Majesty in our own ways, and that’s why I was pleased to see Dereham going ahead with their much anticipated Platinum Jubilee Awards – celebrating those who have gone above and beyond for their community at an event held in Dereham Memorial Hall.

To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the people of Dereham were invited to nominate those they felt deserved a People’s Award for their services to the community and I have taken great pleasure in writing to all those nominees shortlisted to praise their efforts and thank them for all they do.

No one embodied that spirit of public service more than Her Late Majesty (as I highlighted in my tribute to her in parliament) and there is no doubt that these Awards are a fitting tribute to all that our late, great monarch did for our country.
