Rural Policy Group – The Value of Food

Having grown up on my stepdad’s farm and previously worked as Parliamentary Officer for the NFU, I have always had a strong connection with our agricultural industries and the environment. I also recognise the enormous role that farming, the food industry and all of its associated sectors play in not only our Mid Norfolk economy, but also in the economy of the East more widely.

That’s why I welcomed the opportunity to join the Rural Policy Group’s ‘The Value of Food’ virtual event recently – speaking alongside industry experts and politicians across the political spectrum about the challenges facing producers and consumers alike, exploring what can and must be done to ensure that these vital sectors survive and thrive, and that families and households can access the good quality, healthy, affordable food they need.

The current cost of living crisis brings these issues into even sharper focus and I truly appreciated the opportunity to take part in this incredibly important discussion.
