Norfolk’s Innovation Economy – The NRP

The Eastern region is fast becoming the home of the some of the most innovative companies in Europe, especially within the fields of food, medicine and energy. At its heart sits the wonderful Norwich Research Park, which in the coming years will see more and more of the fantastic companies based there growing and “spinning-out” into our local communities – creating thousands of jobs in the fastest growing sectors and sectors of tomorrow (including green jobs), and in turn spreading positive growth and prosperity to us all.

That’s why I am so delighted to see today’s brilliant article in the EDP (see here), highlighting the NRP’s new Enterprise Strategy and explaining in greater depth just how the NRP is leading the way in pioneering science, research and technology.

Having had a fifteen year business career helping similar businesses in ‘Life Science’ get off the ground, served as the first ever Minister for Life Science (between 2014-2016) and only recently been the Minister for Science, Research and Innovation, I know the importance of the NRP and the wider Norwich, Norfolk and Eastern region clusters. I have long been one of the Park’s biggest advocates, helping to secure it greater investment and doing all I can to shine a light on just what an incredible asset it is to have on our doorstep here in Mid Norfolk.

The NRP has a leading role to play in the economic prosperity of our area and will also be at the forefront of the science and innovation that will help shape the world of tomorrow.

Rest assured, I will continue to do all I can to support it – and to ensure Mid Norfolk gets to reap the rewards of its success in the years ahead.
