A47 Alliance

The A47 is a major transport artery into, and across, our great country – which, like much of the key infrastructure here in our region, has been allowed to lag behind for far too long over recent decades.

That’s why, as part of my ongoing campaign efforts to help deliver significant improvements to this vital route, I am looking forward to being represented at the latest A47 Alliance meeting later this week.

I was incredibly proud to play my part in bringing the then Prime Minister David Cameron to Mid Norfolk back in 2014, where he announced a £300million commitment to dual the North Tuddenham-Easton stretch, as well as other improvements along the A47 – including the redesign of Thickthorn Roundabout.

However, we are now in 2022, with works on this package of crucial works only just beginning. There cannot be any more slippage.

That’s why I will continue to support the work of the Alliance to hold National Highways and other key stakeholders to account – and why I look forward to having another opportunity to lobby hard again for FULL DUALLING of the A47 (from Lowestoft in the East to the A1 in the Cambridgeshire in the West) as well. Only then can we help unlock our region’s vast economic potential, deliver the significant safety boost that we all need AND spread greater opportunity and prosperity to our local communities.

Rest assured, I remain committed to doing all I can on this matter.
