Royal Mail Dog Awareness Week

The postal service is a key part of our national infrastructure – with Royal Mail integral, helping to keep family and friends connected, businesses alive, and people informed.

That’s why I am supporting Royal Mail Dog Awareness Week this week – to highlight the issue that is dog attacks on our vital postmen and women. Over 1,600 postal staff were bitten by dogs in the UK alone last year.

As a dog owner myself, I know how much pleasure they bring so many. However, it’s important that our key postal staff are able to go about their jobs safely, without threat of being attacked by a customer’s dog.

If you are expecting a parcel, or answering the door to a postman or woman, please do all you can to minimise the risk to these key staff.
