Flooding - Weasenham

In the months since I helped set up the Mid Norfolk Flood Partnership earlier this year, much progress has been made as we look to improve the system for responding to and better mitigate for future flood events.

Among the positive steps taken have been the introduction of a Norfolk Flooding Helpline and the Norfolk Strategic Flood Alliance’s commitment to helping “tranches” of communities badly affected by flooding in recent years. The first tranche of 16 communities (6 of which are in Mid Norfolk) are already being assisted.

There is much work still to be done however and that’s why, as part of my ongoing efforts on this issue, I wrote to residents in Weasenham to ask for their feedback on the flooding problems that, like so many places in Mid Norfolk, hit the community hard last winter and which have been worsening over recent years.

By collecting their feedback and sharing that with the NSFA, I hope to help create a clearer picture of the problems in the community so that the NSFA can liaise with partners, like Anglian Water and local landowners, to implement constructive measures.

Rest assured, I will continue to work actively on this issue, and look forward to providing further updates in due course.

In the meantime, if YOU have been affected by flooding in the past few years, please do get in touch and share your experiences with me.
