Mental Health in Agriculture

Every week, someone working in the agricultural sector dies by suicide.

Each life lost is one too many. And there are so many more struggling in silence.

That’s why I welcomed the opportunity to join Lloyds Bank’s ‘Mental Health in Agriculture’ campaign last year, run in association with Archant.

Having spent much of my childhood growing up on my stepfather’s farm, and having both worked for the NFU and retained a strong interest in and connection to Farming (one of our region’s most important industries), this is an issue very close to my heart – particularly having also witnessed the effects of poor mental health in my own family in the past.

Earlier this week, I caught up with the Lloyds team to continue the conversation and explore how we can work together in the coming months to raise further awareness and highlight the wealth of support out there for those in need. The discussions are very positive indeed and I look forward to lending my weight to this incredibly worthwhile cause.

In the meantime, you can listen back to the ‘Exploring Mental Health in Agriculture’ webinar I participated in last summer here
