Glasses for classes

Going to school and learning so many new things is a daunting process at any age. Imagine not be able to see the board or computer screen properly – not a great start in life.

That’s why I was delighted to learn that the DfE have launched Glasses for Classes across primary schools, which aims to address the issue of children not attending follow up vision screening or not wearing the glasses they were prescribed.

The intervention seeks to ensure that children who need glasses have them, and use them in school, leading to improved literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children and more integrated local services.

Building on the Glasses in Classes trial developed in the Bradford Opportunity Area, the Department for Education has now dedicated a further £900,000 for pathfinders across Derby LA, Doncaster LA, Durham LA, the North Yorkshire Coast OA, and Norwich and Breckland in Norfolk.
