A47 Update

One of my central missions since becoming Mid Norfolk’s MP back in 2010 has been the improvement of our transport infrastructure here in the East. Only with a transport network fit for the 21st century can our great county fulfil its true economic potential.

While I am very proud that we have managed to secure the £300 million required for the first phase of A47 dualling, it is imperative that we get the whole of the A47 dualled from Lowestoft in the East all the way to the A1 in Cambridgeshire in the West, in order to improve road safety and embrace the huge benefits that such dualling would deliver for the region.

That’s why I have been continuing to highlight the ongoing A47 Alliance ‘Just Dual It!’ campaign and holding further talks with civil servants and local council representatives.

Today’s EDP article highlights next month’s delegation of which I am supportive, which will bring together politicians and business leaders from Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to discuss the matter further with Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling and Transport Minister, Jesse Norman. Please do click this for further information.

Rest assured, I am firmly committed to driving forward this campaign with my parliamentary colleagues in the months ahead.
